About

Wôpanâak Language Reclamation Project

Our mission is to reclaim and preserve the Wôpanâak language, which has been endangered for many years. We believe that language is a part of cultural identity, and we are committed to ensuring that all Tribal members now and in the future can learn and speak this beautiful language.

Thank you for your interest in this project.

Mission

The Wôpanâak Language Reclamation Project is dedicated to the revival and sustainability of the Wôpanâak language through comprehensive education, community involvement, and cultural integration and to reclaim the Wôpanâak Language as the primary means of expression among the Wampanoag Nation.

Vision

The Wôpanâak Language Reclamation Project envisions a thriving community where the Wôpanâak language is once again spoken fluently by our people. Our goal is to restore and revitalize our ancestral tongue, ensuring it is passed down through generations as a living, vibrant expression of our cultural identity and heritage. We strive to foster a deep connection to our roots, empowering our community through education, engagement, and the celebration of our linguistic heritage. By reclaiming our language, we honor our ancestors, strengthen our cultural pride, and build a resilient future for all Wampanoag people.
