Board of Directors

Welcome to the Wôpanâak Language Reclamation Project's official website. Our organization is passionately dedicated to the reclamation of the Wampanoag language, Wôpanâak, which once thrived among the indigenous communities of New England. Guided by the visionary leadership of jessie 'little doe' baird and supported by the collaborative efforts of the Assonet Band of Wampanoag, the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe, the Wampanoag Tribe of Aquinnah, and the Herring Pond Band of Wampanoag, we are committed to restoring linguistic fluency to the Wampanoag Nation. Our mission extends beyond language preservation; it encompasses the strengthening of cultural identity, the exercise of intellectual sovereignty, the empowerment of our people, and the continuation of a rich heritage that has been passed down through generations as our inheritance.

We invite you to explore our programs, initiatives, and the vibrant history that shapes our community. Our Board meets monthly, and the term for each board member is listed below. Should you have any questions for the Board, please email them to info@wlrp.org.
