Learn to Introduce Yourself in Your Language!

What:
Join us for a one-day immersion workshop designed for beginners and those looking to strengthen their conversational skills! In this hands-on class, you'll learn how to introduce yourself and talk about where you're from—all in Wôpanâak. Our immersion approach focuses on speaking and interactive activities, making it a great fit for those who learn best by doing.

This workshop is offered on two dates—choose the one that works best for you!
Time 9:30AM- 3PM
Saturday, April 5, Aquinnah
Sunday, April 6, Mashpee
Where:
Meeting in person at the Aquinnah Tribe Administration Building, Aquinnah, MA on Saturday, April 5
Meeting in person at the WLRP Office Buiding, Mashpee, MA on Saunday, April 6
Prerequisite:
None! This class is open to all eligible learners, regardless of prior experience.

Wôpanâak Beginner Conversation Class
NOTE: All learners must be enrolled, or a household member of an enrolled, citizen of: Assonet Wampanoag; Aquinnah Wampanoag; Herring Pond Wampanoag; or Mashpee Wampanoag
What:
This is class is for learners who are new to speaking the language or for those who have had some conversational class and want to brush-up.
When:
Saturdays at 10-11 AM
Beginning on December 14th, 2024 and finishing on May 10th, 2025.
Where:
Meeting at: In-Person at the Aquinnah Community Center Blackbrook Road Aquinnah MA
Prerequisite:
There is no prior class attendance required to join this group of learners.

Wôpanâak Beginner Workbook Class

This is a workbook class is for those who are new to learning about the language or those who want a workbook brush-up.
When:
Every Sunday starting on January 26th, 2025 until April 13, 2025. Time 12PM - 1PM.
Where:

There is no prerequisite for this class.

Beginner's Workbook Class

What:
This class is for learners who are new to speaking the language or for those who have had some conversational class and want to brush-up.
When:
Time 7PM- 8PM
Every Thursday starting, February 20th, 2025 until April 24th, 2025.

Prerequisite:
There is no prior class attendance required to join this group of learners.

Wôpanâôt8âtôh! Let’s Speak Wampanoag
NOTE: This immersion class is exclusively for Indian Ed students from grades 7-12 who are part of a Wampanoag household or one of the four communities: Assonet, Aquinnah, Herring Pond, or Mashpee. All learners must be enrolled citizens or household members of an enrolled citizen from these communities.
What:
Indian Education is partnering with WLRP and offering a ‘Wôp only, no English’ language class.
When:
Every Friday morning at 10:15AM starting on November 15th, 2024.
Where:
Meeting at: Indian Education Room, Mashpee Middle-High School, 500 Old Barnstable Rd, Mashpee, MA
Prerequisite:
There is no prerequisite for this class.

What:
This is a workbook class for those who want to learn how nouns are possessed in the Language.
When:
Thursdays at 11:00 AM-noon
On a rolling basis as part of the Elder’s Lunch and Learn Program.
